Oostende is the largest port in Belgium. At the beginning of the last century, the town was romantically nicknamed "the queen of the Belgian coast". Oostende is still famous for one of the best beaches in the country. Showers, changing rooms, restrooms, lifeguard stations and wind shades are installed on the shore. Tourists play volleyball and cricket, drink aromatic coffee in bars, swim or sunbathe on the soft sand. Festivals and theater performances take place in the summer.
